One-time inspirational captain of the side, who was first brought to Underhill on loan by former manager Peter Shreeves, who had been a mentor at both Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield Wednesday. Even though Shreeves left, Hendon opted to sign for the Bees the next season rather than Peterborough United. Hendon won seven England under-21 caps while with Spurs and he subsequently played for Leyton Orient, Notts County, Northampton Town and Wednesday. Ian operates mostly at right-back, although he can play at centreback also. In the summer of 2007, Hendon was appointed Assistant Manager to Paul Fairclough, although he is still often features in the 16.
