Almost qualifies for a testimonial. Ismail joined the Bees at the age of 11 and signed professional forms at 17 after being given his debut while still at school studying his A-Levels. He even missed a midweek away game at Yeovil because of his academic work. A strong, powerful central defender, Ismail has a bright future in the game. He was appointed team captain for this season after some excellent defensive performances throughout the previous year. Yakubu is a popular member of the squad with both players and supporters and his appointment was much welcomed. Missed six matches with a groin strain this season but returned as skipper in the 1st round FA Cup tie with Gillingham and scored the equalising goal in the game and scored the winner at MK Dons in January.
