Paul Fairclough said his side suffered "utter humiliation" after Saturday's 5-0 away defeat to Grimsby Town.
The Bees manager, who made two changes to the starting line-up from the one that drew with Bristol Rovers last time out in League 2 with Lee Harrison returning in goal and Paul Warhurst at centre back. gave this honest and frank assessment of proceedings after a dismal display by the Bees.
Grimsby started the game the brighter of the two sides, although they didn't take the lead until the 26th minute with the games first real effort on goal when Gary Jones rose unchallenged to head home a Peter Till cross from the right.
Barnet looked for an immediate response and two minutes later Mariners goalkeeper Phil Barnes did well to hold onto a deflected Barry Cogan shot after a fine Nicky Bailey run forward.
Six minutes before half time, though, and Barnet were to go 2-0 behind after more sloppy defending allowed Danny North to fire home after a Nick Hegatty shot cannoned off of Warhurst.
In a very low key first half for Barnet, they could have conceded a third in first half stoppage time when North found space in the penalty area once more, but this time he fired wide of Harrison's right hand post.
Although it did not seem possible, the second half was even worse for the Bees as they got carved open on several occasions by a competitive and hard working Grimsby side.
In the 48th minute Harrison pulled off a fine save from a Hegatty shot, whilst three minutes later Danny Boshell should have done better when his free header from a Till cross went wide.
Nicky Bailey then shot wide for Barnet in a rare moment of positivity for the Bees, before North, having a fine game for the home side in attack, shot over on the hour when he arguably should have done better.
It was not long, though, before North was to go on and get his second when in the 71st minute he met a Hegatty cross at the near post with precision sending his powerful shot into the back of the net past the hapless Harrison.
Eight minutes later and it was four when yet more careless defending from Barnet saw Nick Fenton head home following a Hegatty corner kick from the left.
With 81 minutes on the clock Grimsby really should have scored their fifth when a quick break forward saw the Mariners have three attackers to only one Barnet defender, Simon King, but with only Harrison to beat, North failed to get his hat-trick when the Bees goalkeeper 'tipped' his strike around the post, although the officials only gave a goal kick much to the surprise of the majority of the crowd.
Barnet then decided to wake up and Puncheon saw two efforts pushed around a post by Barnes, whilst Bailey saw his dipping volley also well saved by the Town goalkeeper.
It was the Mariners who were to go on and score their fifth, though, and North was to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot after King pulled substitute Andy Taylor down in the area.
All in all, not a great day for Barnet as they failed to score against the Mariners once more. That's now four games, four defeats and no goals. Things can only get better, as they say.
