Adam Birchall's fourth goal in only nine Barnet starts rewarded Paul Fairclough's side with the three points against Paul Ince's in-form Macclesfield Town side on Saturday.
Barnet started the game at a frantic pace and were quickly into their stride with Nicky Bailey and Dean Sinclair pulling the strings in the centre of the Bees midfield.
Ian Hendon put in a dangerous low cross in the 15th minute which the Macclesfield backline did well to clear, before a minute later a Bailey ball forward found Adam Birchall, who turned superbly before seeing his shot from six yards blocked with the legs of Silkmen goalkeeper David Rouse.
A minute later and this time the away side were trying their luck on goal when Martin Bullock saw his shot drift just wide of Harrison's left hand post.
The away side were beginning to get more into the game and they were again threatening in front of goal - this time Colin Heath with the strike, but Harrison comfortably caught the ball with the midfielder's shot from distance lacking power.
Barnet were still seeing the greater amount of the ball, however, and they were looking a threat in the final third in the 31st minute when a dinked ball into the box by Jason Puncheon found Sinclair, who took one touch before shooting first time, but his left footed effort from an acute angle was well held by Rouse.
A minute later and Sinclair was again striking at goal, but this time his effort from 20 yards, after fine period of one-touch football by the Bees, saw the midfielders effort go over the crossbar.
Heath then saw his ambitious volley from all of 25 yards drift wide for Macclesfield in the 36th minute but four minutes later the Bees were to take the lead. Nicky Bailey played the ball forward from the centre circle where he found the on-running Birchall, who took one touch before finish calmly past Rouse from 12 yards into the keeper's bottom right hand corner.
Puncheon then struck from distance two minutes later, but his right footed effort was well held by Rouse.
Barnet started the second half on the front foot, and Puncheon came close to extending the Bees' lead when he twisted and turned before seeing his low effort from 25 yards skim just wide of Rouse's right hand post after 47 minutes.
Two minutes later and this time Puncheon turned supplier when he found strike partner Birchall, but the former Mansfield man's effort from distance lacked power and was comfortably held by keeper Rouse.
Puncheon then struck once more, but his effort was again held by Rouse, in the 50th minute, before Barry Cogan struck just wide a minute later after a fine burst into the box.
It was Puncheon once more who was threatening in front of goal when he won the ball on the Bees right ahead of the on-rushing Macclesfield goalkeeper, but under pressure from James Jennings, the Bees' man's effort went over the crossbar.
King then directed a Puncheon corner over the crossbar - the centre back's effort from six yards arriving at an awkward height on the hour whilst four minutes later defensive partner Ismail Yakubu saw his header well held by Rouse.
The Silkmen were by no means out of the game and Kevin McIntyre tested Harrison with a free kick from distance in the 75th minute but the Bees custodian was equal to the effort.
Barnet then introduced Liam Hatch from the bench two minutes later - the big striker coming on in place of Puncheon.
King then saw his ambitious overhead kick go over the bar following a Bailey corner in the 80th minute before Hatch struck just wide two minutes later after a fine run forward.
The Bees striker then saw his flicked header go wide in the 85th minute following a Bailey free kick from the left, before Giuliano Grazioli made his comeback from injury as a replacement for goalscorer Birchall.
Macclesfield offered little in the four minutes of time added on and Barnet left the field with the three points.
