Barnet suffered defeat against Lincoln City at Underhill on Tuesday evening in quite dramatic fashion.
The Bees were 2-0 up after 53 minutes but three defensive errors allowed the Imps to fight back and head back to Lincolnshire with the three points.
Both sides started the game in a tentative fashion and the first effort of note from either side did not occur until the seventh minute - Barnet's Ismail Yakubu misplaced his defensive header to allow Martin Gritton to square the ball to Simon Yeo but the Lincoln striker saw his effort blocked by the legs of Bees goalkeeper Ross Flitney.
Nicky Bailey had the Bees first strike on goal in the ninth minute but he saw his effort sail wide, whilst a minute later Gritton overran the ball when well placed in the Barnet penalty area following fine play by Scott Kerr.
Barnet continued to look bright in attack and they were to take the lead in the 21st minute.
Tresor Kandol played the ball out to the left to Adam Gross and he crossed the ball into the box first time where Giuliano Grazioli controlled the ball before seeing his left footed effort parried away by Alan Marriott. The ball fell nicely to Ben Strevens who made no mistake from 8 yards out to give the Bees' the lead.
Four minutes later and Kandol could have doubled Barnet's advantage but he saw his right footed effort from a low Dean Sinclair cross go wide.
Lincoln continued to compete well for every ball and Yeo should have equalised for Keith Alexander's side in the 32nd minute but he sliced his effort wide from 10 yards.
Straight down the other end and Sinclair saw his powerful right footed strike pushed away by Marriott following good work by Gross on the Bees' left whilst Jamie McCombe saw his header go wide just two minutes later at the other end.
As half time approached the Bees were lucky to go in at the break a goal to the good and had Ross Flitney to thank for making a triple save two minutes before the interval.
Gritton had his ambitious 30 yard effort spilt by the Bees' custodian but he bounced back up quickly to block Francis Green's follow up strike with his legs and then recovered well to push Gary Birch's header away for a corner.
The resulting set piece came to nothing but following a quick throw by Flitney to Nicky Bailey Barnet nearly extended their lead but the Bees midfielder saw his fine 25 yard volley tipped over superbly by Marriott.
Barnet began the second half in buoyant mood and were unlucky not to extend their lead in the 47th minute but Strevens saw his effort go wide following fine build up play by Kandol and Bailey on the Bees right.
Steve Robinson then saw his 30 yard free kick drift wide for the Imps in the 49th minute and that miss was to prove costly as Barnet were to extend their lead just four minutes later.
A hopeful ball over the top by Ismail Yakubu caught the Imps defence off guard and Kandol coolly lobbed the ball over the advancing Marriott to score his second goal in as many games.
Lincoln, however, took just a minute to reduce the deficit back to one goal when a looping cross by Scott Kerr swirled in the wind and deceived Flitney who dropped the ball at McCombe's feet and the big centre back made no mistake from fours yards.
Dwane Lee looked to quickly respond for Barnet but his 25 yard drive went wide whilst Grazioli saw his lobbed effort in the 63rd minute drift inches over Marriott's crossbar much to the relief of a static Imps defence.
Two minutes later, though, and Lincoln were to find themselves on level terms following a poor piece of defensive play by the Bees.
Gross gave the ball away in his own half. The ball, however, was won back by Yakubu who calmly rolled the ball back to Flitney. However, the keepers low kick landed straight at the feet of Imps substitute Gary Birch who calmly advanced towards the Bees goal and finished well past Flitney for his 10th goal of the season.
Birch and Kandol then saw efforts for either side go over whilst Jeff Hughes saw his 74th minute free kick deflected inches wide.
As both sets of fans looked set to be heading home with a point, the home sections of Underhill was stunned when the Imps were to go on and get their third and decisive goal three minutes from time.
Nathanial Brown latched onto a weak clearance from the Bees defence and hit the ball low and hard past Flitney from 25 yards.
With the Bees pushing forward in search of an equaliser, Yeo saw his right footed effort saved by the legs of Flitney, whilst in the 90th minute Dwane Lee had a golden chance to equalise for the Bees but he completely missed Kandol's fine low cross.
The referee added an extra four minutes of added time but the Bees could not create another opening and the Imps left Underhill with the maximum points.
