ALBERT GIVES 100%
Fans' favourite Albert Adomah, the subject of big bids from the Championship only months after joining Barnet from non-league Harrow Borough in January, has a heartening message for supporters on the eve of the first pre-season friendlies.
The 20 -year-old winger, who scored on his Football League debut away to Hereford United and managed five in 22 games, told www.barnetfc.com : "It looks like I am staying ... and I am happy to be at Barnet".
"I am training hard ready for Tuesday's game away to St Albans City and the Arsenal game at Underhill.
"I get on with everyone at Barnet and, of course, I feel like I owe the club something for taking a chance on someone unknown from a lower league.
"I look to the chairman and Paul Fairclough to help and advise me on the next stage of my career.
"Of course I was flattered to learn that managers and scouts were watching me and there were offers as all players look to play at the highest level.
"The club did not want me to go and resisted offers and I want all fans to know that I will continue to give 100 per cent while I am a Barnet player.
"I feel a rapport with the crowd at Underhill ... you know I like to hear them chanting 'Albert, Albert, Albert'".
Adomah signed for Barnet for an undisclosed fee after playing 99 games for Harrow Borough. The Bees pipped Dagenham & Redbridge for his signature and Paul Fairclough said: "We have great hopes and expectations - it will be interesting to see how he develops".
Adomah developed into something of a cult figure at Underhill and the rejected offers for him were described as "significant". At the time Barnet said that if the right deal was offered, and that deal was right for the player, he would go with the club's best wishes.
The news that he is happy at Underhill is welcomed. The Bees play a pre-season friendly at Harrow Borough on July 30 as part of the original transfer and the toast should be: 'Albert, Albert, Albert'.
