WHO'S WHO IN LEAGUE TWO...CHESTER CITY
James Harrison takes a look at Who's Who in League Two, a continuting series about next season's opponents.
Chester City Last Season 22nd Only the shortcomings of Mansfield and fierce rivals Wrexham kept them up in the end, though the terrible run of form did them no favours and indeed spelt the end of manager Bobby Williamson in March. A 0-0 draw with Stockport in their penultimate game was enough to keep them up and save the drama of a last day survival battle. In the Carling Cup, they were beaten on penalties by Nottingham Forest after a 0-0 draw, though they did manage to win a penalty shoot out against Crewe Alexandra in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. They were well beaten in the next round however, losing 4-2 at Carlisle United. In the FA Cup, they were beaten away at Bradford City in the First Round, having also lost at Valley Parade four days previously in League Two. Stats (League Only) Average Attendance: 2,479 Top Scorer: Kevin Ellison - 11 Back at Underhill though, The Bees got their revenge with a dominant performance. Cliff Akurang's double on top of an early second half strike from the exciting Albert Adomah gave The Bees a comfortable three goal lead. Mark Hughes scrambled a mere consolation for Chester in added time, which took the tint off an excellent team display. The Deva has not been a happy hunting ground of late for Barnet. In the last six visits, Barnet have only managed two draws and four defeats, registering just one goal?a Greg Heald strike live in front of the Sky Cameras in 2003. Chester City 3-0 Barnet Barnet 3-1 Chester City Transfers So Far (As Of July 02) As ever, The Reckless Guide to Chester will provide all you need to know for our trip to The Deva Stadium on August 30. Look out for that close to the time of the game.

Having started the season in excellent fashion, sitting pretty in the promotion pile in November, Chester took a horrendous slide away from the top and were in serious relegation danger by the end. They finished five points clear with 47 points from their 46 games, which is alarming when you consider that they had amassed 28 of those points in their first 14 games. They only won two of their last 26 games.

Against Barnet
Both sides were on somewhat of a slump when they met on a cold Tuesday evening in December at The Deva, though Chester put in a very good performance to run out deserved 3-0 winners. Two from top scorer Kevin Ellison and another from Richie Partridge sent the small but very vocal Bees following home empty handed.
