SAGI FACES FRIDAY OP
Posted on: Wed 23 Apr 2008
Sagi Burton is definitely out of Saturday's last home game of the season against promotion-chasing Stockport County.
Physiotherapist Mark Stein has confirmed that the 31-year-old central defender is due to have an operation on a knee ligament injury on Friday.
Although Burton is one of six players ruled out, the brighest side for manager Paul Fairclough is that he only needs two replacements to the side that won convincingly at Accrington Stanley last weekend. Neal Bishop, who was stretchered off in that game and replaced by on-loan Jordan Parkes, joins Burton, who played the 90 minutes at Accrington, on the sidelines.
The problem area is central defence with skipper Ismail Yakubu and Player of the Year contender Joe Devera already ruled out.
Goalkeeper Rob Beckwith and assistant manager Ian Hendon are the other non-starters.
