LEARY AND BURTON REJOIN SQUAD
Posted on: Mon 04 Feb 2008
Michael Leary and Sagi Burton return to the Barnet squad for Tuesday's League 2 visit to Rochdale and, apart from goalkeeper Rob Beckwith, Paul Fairclough reports a clean bill of health.
The manager joked: "Physio Mark Stein is twiddling his thumbs".
Leary returns from a three-match suspension after being sent off in The FA Cup third round replay against Swindon Town and Burton has recovered from a left knee problem that has ruled him out for 13 games. The 29-year-old experienced central defender is likely to start his comeback on the bench because of the form of Joe Devera, singled out by Fairclough as "outstanding" versus Morecambe, alongside skipper Ismail Yakubu.
With Beckwith not recovered from dislocating two fingers in training the day after his penalty shoot-out save against Swindon, Tim Trebes is called up for the last time for the trip to Rochdale. The young goalkeeper is signing a contract with Wivenhoe.
The Bees are unbeaten in four away games this year - all using 4-5-1 - but Paul Fairclough, who said he was taking a critical look at himself and considering his formation after the 1-0 home defeat by Morecambe, was playing it cool after Monday training.
"I haven't decided yet", he said, "Just say I am looking for a winning formation".
Footnote: The Barnet manager promised Trebes a League debut last week if the Bees went four up at Hereford. Maybe tomorrow?
