Big Doubt Over Bishop
Posted on: Fri 12 Oct 2007
Neal Bishop, Barnet's stylish midfield signing from York City, pulled up with a hamstring problem with a minute to go at training on Thursday and is rated doubtful for the home game against Mansfield Town at Underhill (1 p.m.).
Manager Paul Fairclough said that 26-year-old Bishop would take it easy on Friday and be assessed on Saturday - "but it might be too big a risk to play him". On-loan teenager Josh Wright, who has played well alongside Bishop in midfield, is away with the England U19 squad.
Young Player of the Year Joe Devera, who went off with a recurrence of a troublesome bruised foot against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie on Tuesday, is also in the doubtful class for the Mansfield game.
Fairclough, already minus injured skipper Ismail Yakubu, Michael Leary and Kenny Gillet, called in 18-year-old PROTEC midfielder Joe Tabiri to join the squad on Friday. Tabiri, who played for the Bees in the Herts Senior Cup last season, is seen by the manager as a prospect for the future.
Fairclough has selection problems with six first team players injured or doubtful as the Bees hope to continue their impressive run of seven League 2 games without defeat
Although Giuliano Grazioli is back at Underhill, his loan period with AFC Wimbledon does not expire until Saturday and he is not available
