In League 2 last season six different clubs had a Manager of the Month. Paul Ince led a turn round in fortunes with Macclesfield, but all the rest were in the play-off positions at the end of the season and all the four promoted teams had had their manager winning the award.
Whilst not wishing to tempt fate and being fully conscious of the difficult task that awaits at Edgeley Park, in the light of what happened to the clubs whose managers in L2 were recognised in this way last season, perhaps it's an urban myth to say that the award is "cursed".
