Match Report: Farnborough 5-1 Barnet
A Barnet side consisting almost exclusively of trialists slumped to a heavy defeat to Farnborough on Tuesday.
Just two Barnet players, Ian Hendon and James Cole, were present as Paul Fairclough cast his eye over potential new signings.
After a slow start, Farnborough were to take the lead with the first real chance of the game on 18 minutes. Trialist Ludovic Quistin failed to deal with a long ball on the right and Jermaine Hamilton was on hand for the home side to tap home from the cross.
The Bees pushed back for an equaliser, with most of the danger coming from the impressive number 7, Orlando Smith and number 9, Anthony Joseph. After 23 minutes, Smith beat a few players with a mazy run but was unable to get his shot on target.
The game slowed towards half time, with both sides merely exchanging half chances. However, on the stroke of half time, another long ball was not dealt with by the Barnet defence and Hamilton was again on hand to poke home for his and Farnborough's second goal.
Farnborough were to change their entire team at half time and the Bees started brightly as the second half began. However, they were still being restricted to half chances and Farnborough would add a third after 58 minutes, Darren Campbell heading home a Mark Green cross.
The Bees were creating chances throughout, but were very wasteful in front of goal. Stefan Honor missed from point blank range from an excellent Ian Hendon cross, and Hendon again created a chance for Michael Bostwick, but his header was straight at the Farnborough keeper.
They were punished again by the clinical hosts, Dan Mason crossing for Warren Coborne, whose header looped over the helpless Dave Blackmore in the Barnet goal on 68 minutes.
Barnet still created a number of chances, and were still wasteful, it took until the 86th minute to finally notch a consolation. Stefan Seanla, who played on Saturday against Arsenal was put through and rounded the keeper to finish and bring the scoreline back to 4-1.
However the hosts were to have the final word, taking advantage of more sloppy defending. Mark Green was allowed in to round substitute keeper Tim Trebbs and slotted home to round off a miserable night for the Bees.
